NENA

The Neuroblastoma Epidemiology in North America (NENA) study was a 2-part project.

The first part was the development of a web based tracking system for the study staff to use. There had been many custom sites developed in the past, all different and all customized, and for the most part very difficult to maintain. The Cecil G. Sheps Center was in the process of expanding the use of the SIRS system as a standardized mechanism for creating and maintaining web based systems. SIRS is a flexible framework for managing a web programming project with themes, controls, and security to name a few benefits. I was a member of a four person development team for NENA. This was a back office system specifically designed for the study staff members.

The second part was a public site designed for potential and current study participants. It was decided to host this site on the Schools Joomla! server under the Department. Here’s a link to the NENA site:
